Tracking Off-site Fueling: Top 4 Issues Resolved
You can’t manage what you don’t measure, and what you don’t manage eventually comes back to bite you—and eat away at profits. Fleet managers know that you can’t save what you don’t measure. Accounting for every drop of fuel spent is essential for profitability and accurate reporting. It doesn’t matter how much or where the fuel is being dispensed––whether it’s to a truck at a local tank or jerrycans at remote sites, every drop matters.
In the first of this three-part blog series, we looked at the issues that arise with the manual reconciliation of primary storage tanks. This second part examines neglected assets further down the operations line and smaller assets.

Better Fuel Inventory Management: Here's How
Fuel is the blood coursing through the veins of industrial fleets. It's what puts the "moving" in your moving assets. As a fleet manager, fuel is a major area of focus of yours and an omnipresent preoccupation. The often unpredictable rise in fuel costs further complicates your already difficult job.
Nonetheless, comprehensive control over your fuel inventory and consumption is essential to ensure profits and avoid losses, and as you know, that's no simple task. There’s just so much to consider: Where’s your fuel going? How much fuel is being purchased? Does it match what was delivered to your storage tanks? Is there shrinkage in your storage tanks and fleet distribution, and what’s the cause?
If jerrycans are a fact of your fleet life, you know how hard it is to keep track of the fuel they consume. You’ve probably resigned yourself to accepting the lack of accountability that comes with jerrycan use as a necessary evil.
We’re here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this way. The fuel dispensed via jerrycans can be tracked and managed accurately and cost-effectively. Read on to learn how.

IMPORTANT: SM2 Infrastructure Upgrade (completed)
In our continuing efforts to best serve you, Coencorp is partnering with Microsoft as a Microsoft ISV (Independent Software Vendor). As a result, your SM2 fleet and fuel management applications will be moved to Azure, Microsoft's cloud computing platform.
This move to an upgraded hosting environment will provide you with several benefits such as world-class cybersecurity and compliance, high availability, a future-ready infrastructure backed by continuous innovation from Microsoft, and more.
In order to deliver these improvements, we will be migrating all hosted SM2 installations to the Azure cloud this month, on August 17, 19, and 24. We will notify you of the migration date specific to your SM2 in a separate email three or more business days in advance.
On the day of the upgrade, SM2 (your management application) will experience a down-window of up to 4 hours. Fueling operations, however, will be unaffected and will continue to operate normally in automatic mode.
We will be sending you further updates next week but if you have any specific inquiries, please email info@coencorp. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and promise to do everything in our power to complete this upgrade smoothly and in the shortest time possible.
SM2 Migration FAQ
If I am not hosted with coencorp, will the Migration to Azure affect my operation?
In general, it will not affect your operation, but it could for some standard services like licensing, help files, dashboard templates and lookup tables for fault codes.
We are transferring and testing these services on the 10th of August while keeping old services running. So, besides the licensing, if you are using other services, you may experience issues but be insured we are doing everything in our power so you do not experience any issues.
If I am hosted with Coencorp, will I need to use a new URL after the migration?
No, we are setting up & testing the same URL with a new IP address. We are shutting down for the duration of the migration. Once the migration is finished and tested, you will continue using the services the way you did before the migration.
Will I be informed when the migration starts and when it is done?
Yes, on the day your company is scheduled to migrate, you will receive an email when we start migrating your company. Once finished, you will receive another notification indicating you are up and running.
We are currently accessing this DB to power other systems. Will we be able to access it the same way in Azure?
If you are accessing the database directly, you would be a particular case, and we would work with you to insure your connectivity.
Is the site controller part of this Migration?
No, the SiteController is not part of this migration
We have nothing to do on our end, and SM2 will be down for 4 hours only. Is it correct?
Yes, barring unforeseen issues, you will be up and running after approximately 4 hours.
What are the prerequisites that must be done on our side, if there are any?
None
What will be the impact, in the short and long term, on our infrastructure?
None, simply higher security and better performance.
